CV Checklist
- ✓ NZ English spelling throughout (colour, organise, centre)
- ✓ Contact details are current and correct (phone, email, location)
- ✓ NZ work rights status is included
- ✓ Professional summary is tailored to this specific role
- ✓ Skills section includes keywords from this job description
- ✓ All employment dates are in MM/YYYY format
- ✓ Bullet points are achievement-focused, not task lists
- ✓ No tables, text boxes, or graphics
- ✓ Single column layout only
- ✓ Two referees listed or "available on request" stated
- ✓ File saved as PDF or DOCX with correct naming
Cover Letter Checklist
- ✓ Addressed to the correct person/team and company
- ✓ References the specific role title
- ✓ Opening does NOT start with "I am writing to..."
- ✓ One page maximum
- ✓ At least two quantified achievements included
- ✓ Mentions the specific company — not generic
- ✓ NZ English spelling throughout
- ✓ Correct sign-off (Kind regards / Ngā mihi)
Before You Submit
- ✓ File naming correct: FirstName-LastName-CV-CompanyName.pdf
- ✓ Application form fully completed if required
- ✓ Referees have been warned they may receive a call
- ✓ You have read the job description once more after drafting your application
